My name is Oscar Sanchez and a long time resident of Hammond, Indiana. My wife, Mary, and I also lived in the Roxanna a Sub Division of East Chicago for a few years. I am a retired Steelworker and served for 38 years. I am a member of the USW Local Union 1011 located in East Chicago, Indiana.
If selected as your Commissioner, I pledge to be a full time Commissioner and work every day to address our county’s most immediate challenges and long-term needs. If elected, I pledge to be a Full Time Working Commissioner for Working Families!
Today, Lake County taxpayers face some very serious challenges with threats of higher taxes, lack of accountability of our elected officials, a poorly managed county government, and many more deficiencies in our county government. That is why I am asking you to stand with me on Tuesday, May 6, 2008, and vote for change.
Our campaign will be an optimistic campaign: a campaign for CHANGE. I want to meet with each of you to discuss the problems of our county government and how together we can address them. During the course of this campaign you will have the chance to compare my record with that of the other candidates running for commissioner. I welcome that discussion and that comparison.
I offer a lifetime of experience and proven record of successfully getting things done. Together, we can improve our community to make it a better place to live, work, and raise a family.
